For the first time, the Forum of Slavic Cultures appeared in the Moscow Book Fair that took place 4-9 September 2013. In cooperation with the director of the Moscow Book Fair Mr. Nikolay Ovsyannikov, the Moscow Foreign Literature Library Rudomino and the Slovenian Book Agency, especially its representative Ms. Katja Stergar, the Forum made possible presentations of Slovenian writers Drago Jančar (the Slovenian FSC Board Member), Mojca Kumerdej and Slavko Pregl.
Immediate cause for the FSC’s participation in the fair was the publication of two translations into Russian from the 100 Slavic Novels collection, which launched this FSC project in the Russian-speaking area. These are the novels Exercises for Ibn Payko by the Macedonian writer Olivera Nikolova and Helper by the Slovak author Ladislav Ballek.
The books were also presented in a special literary event in the Rudomino Library, which produced translations and published the novels in record time. All three Slovenian writers appeared in the literary event, as well as Ms. Katja Stergar who presented the published works form the Rudomino and Slovenian Book Agency’s common joint project Slovenian Word. The event was hosted by the Rudomino director Mrs. Ekaterina Genieva and the chief bibliographer of the Rudomino Bibliographic Centre Yulia Sozina. Mr. Drago Jančar dedicated his address primarily to the presentation of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.
