100 Slavic Novels and SLAWA at the Conference “Translation for Dialogue”

The Forum of Slavic Cultures presented its collections 100 Slavic Novels and SLAWA, both of them important and successful projects of literary translation, at the international conference »Translation for Dialogue«. The conference took place at the end of June in Portorož and was organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). It focused on translation as a central tool of intercultural dialogue and the presentation of good practices in this field while the central objective of the event was to promote and expand a cooperative network between the actors involved in the translation chain promoting intercultural dialogue. The introductory plenary session featured among others Drago Jančar whose novel Mocking Desire from the 100 Slavic Novels collection was the first Slovenian novel to be translated directly from Slovenian into Portuguese. The translation was published within the FSC project SLAWA.
