The Slovenian matica was established in 1864. It reached its apex at the beginning of the 21th century, when it issued books in large print runs and maintained contact with universities and academies from London to Saint Petersburg.
Forum of Slavic Cultures and Slovenian matica organized the 3rd Congress of Slavic Cultures. Representatives of all Slavic Matica’s took part in the congress, among others Jurij Lušćanski from the Sorbian Matica.
The event was reported on also in the Czech-Sorbian herald (Česko-Lužicky vesting).
