FSC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with St. Petersburg

On behalf of the International Foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures Ms. Andreja Rihter signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with Mr. Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of St. Petersburg. In the Russian capital of culture they also adopted a two-year action plan which focuses in particular on intercultural exchange between artists and institutions.

In the framework of the 5th International Congress “St. Petersburg and the Slavic World” Ms. Rihter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, and Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of St. Petersburg, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation. “The memorandum is the culmination of our successful cooperation in the last few years and offers opportunities for further development,” said Governor Poltavchenko in his speech. Ms. Rihter stressed the importance of the signed memorandum. Together with the action plan it will facilitate the exchange of exhibitions, concerts and performances by Slovenian and Russian cultural institutions, and promote the sharing of knowledge and skills that their experts possess. By signing the memorandum the FSC continues to pursue its mission to innervate the creativity of Slavic cultures.

The cooperation between the FSC and St. Petersburg started five years ago, at the first St. Petersburg and the Slavic World congress. This year, the focus of the congress is on green technologies. It has attracted participants from all Slavic countries. Visitors from Slovenia include Mr. Janez Fajfar, mayor of Bled, Miran Gajšek as the representative of the Municipality of Ljubljana and Igor Kos, who is there on behalf of the Municipality of Maribor.
