4th Živa Award to the Slovene Alpine Museum

The Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSC) bestowed the award for the best Slavic museum in Bled under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia Anton Peršak and in co-operation with the Municipality of Bled and the Bled Cultural Institute.

Andreja Rihter, the director of the FSC, Natalia Zarzecka, director of the Cricoteca, the winner of the Živa Award 2016, and Pavle Goranović, the chairman of the FSC Board, handed the Živa award for the best Slavic museum in the presence of the museum experts from Slavic and European countries and the representatives of Živa candidates and other participants. The Award (named after the Slavic goddess Živa) went to the winner the Slovenian Alpine Museum from Mojstrana, Slovenia.

Special recognitions were given to the: State Literary Museum of Yanka Kupala, (Minsk, Belarus) for leadership, Glinka National Museum Consortium of Musical Culture, (Moscow, Russia) for good use of resources, Macura Museum (Novi Banovci, Serbia) for creativity, Wallachian Open Air Museum (Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Czech Republic) for storytelling and Silesian Museum (Katowice, Poland) for Attention to Visitors and Openness. The diploma for honourable mention was given to the State Memorial Historical – Literary and Natural Landscape Museum Reserve of. A. S. Pushkin (Mikhailovskoye, Russia).

“Our Živa will remain živa (alive), because our future goes in the direction of integration. Museums have become more participatory and inclusive institutions,” Mrs Rihter has said in Bled, where it had also been announced that the Živa Award 2018 ceremony will take place in Prague, Czech Republic.
