The Forum of Slavic Cultures, Embassy of the Czech Republic in Slovenia, the Ljubljana Faculty of Arts and the Ljubljana Theological Faculty organized the Symposium in honour of the 1150th anniversary of Slavic written culture and the beginning of the Slavic mission of Ss. Cyril and Methodius.
The seminar took place at the Ljubljana University on 17 June 2013.
The welcome speeches were delivered by the Slovenian Minister of Education, Science and Sport Mr. Jernej Pikalo, Prof. Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik, the Ljubljana University Rector, Prof. Andrej Černe, the Ljubljana Faculty of Arts Dean, Ms. Andreja Rihter, the Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, the Metropolitan of Ljubljana his Eminence Anton Stres and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Slovenia, H. E. Petr Voznica.
The introductory general lectures were followed by special sections, dedicated to history, literature (literary history), theology (Church history), and arts.
The second day of the scholarly meeting was dedicated to the fieldtrip to the Stična Monestery and its Museum of Christianity, where the participants had an opportunity to visit an exhibition on the life and work of Ss. Cyril and Methodius.
